Did You Know? Egg rolls were not invented in China. They were first made in the United States.

Duck Sauce Recipe #1 - It's quick and easy.

Ingredients:

  • 10 egg roll wrappers
  • 4 Tbsp. vegetable oil
  • 1 tsp. ground ginger
  • 2 cloves garlic, minced
  • 1 lb. ground pork
  • 2 scallions, thinly sliced
  • 1 carrot, cut into strips
  • 1 red pepper, cut into strips
  • 1.1/2 cups cabbage, shredded
  • 1/2 cups carrots, shredded
  • 1/4 cup chicken broth
  • 2 Tbsp. soy sauce
  • 1 Tbsp. sugar
  • 2 Tbsp. sesame oil

Preparation Directions:

  1. In a skillet over medium heat, warm 1 tablespoon of the vegetable oil.
  2. Add ginger and garlic, Saute for 30 seconds.
  3. Stir in the ground pork. Cook for 10 to 15 minutes, until the meat is no longer pink.
  4. Add in the scallions, carrot and red pepper. Saute for five more minutes.
  5. Remove from heat.
  6. Combine cabbage, chicken broth, soy sauce and sugar in a small saucepan.

  9. Add the cabbage to the pork mixture and stir to combine.
  10. Assemble the egg rolls.....
  11. Work with one wrapper at a time, spooning 1 to 2 tablespoons of the filling in the center of the sheet.
  12. Take one corner of the wrapper and fold it over the filling. Fold in the sides.
  13. Brush a little water on the remaining corner to help it stick.
  14. Roll up the egg roll and press the corner firmly to seal.
  15. Continue making rolls until you run out of filling.
  16. Heat the remaining oil over medium-high heat.
  17. Place a few egg rolls into the pan and saute them, rolling frequently so they brown on all sides.
  18. Allow egg rolls to cool for a few minutes before eating.

Serve Egg Rolls warm with Duck Sauce or Egg Roll Dipping Sauce.
